BIOGRAPHY
1934-2013
Bart Parker initially studied literature and creative writing and worked as a newspaper photographer before switching to photography and attending the Rhode Island School of Design where he studied with Harry Callahan. Parker taught for the majority of his career at the University of Rhode Island. Bart began his career in education in 1969 at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Two years later, he started teaching at the University of Rhode Island until his retirement in 1996. The was a long time member of The Society for Photographic Education, and was SPE's 2002 Honored Educator and a past Honorary Educator for the Midwest region.
