This artist book was made to accompany the works in two solo exhibitions (of the same title) in Fall of 2018 at Von Lintel Gallery in Los Angeles and Gitterman Gallery in New York. The book shares McKenna's research into the history, origins and popular perception of six of the many textiles she worked with while making the photographic reliefs in this body of work. Through short essays and collages of reference images, McKenna chronicles her own engagement with these artifacts and the many stories they tell of migration, colonialism, and women’s labor and sexuality.
